Online Bidding with Greater Giving

What You Can Expect

This year​ again, Oak​ ​A​uction will use Greater Giving Online Bidding – allowing for a paperless bidding system. You will bid using your smartphone or tablet on silent auc​tion items. Also, you can easily track packages by following their activity without having to continuously return to a table or bid sheet.

How to Mobile Bid with Greater Giving Online Bidding

Online Bidding Registration

Early Bidding Privilege:

• When: Starts on Thursday, March 28th at 6:00 pm.
• Who: People who have purchased tickets to the Auction night or have sponsored a teacher's ticket or an Auction expense.
• How: No need to register. You will receive a text message on your phone with a link. You can click on the link to look at the packages in the Auction Catalog and start bidding on your phone. You will also receive an email with the link so that you can bid on your laptop or tablet.

Oak Community:

• When: Starts on Saturday, March 30^th at 2:00 pm.
• Who: The entire Oak Community.
• How: Follow the instructions below
  • How to register for online bidding if you don't have Early Bidding Privilege:
    1. Click on the Online Bidding Registration tab on the Auction website.
    2. Click on Start Bidding.
    3. New Bidders: If you are new to Online Bidding, click on Create Account. You will be asked to enter your email address. You will then receive a verification email from Greater Giving. Click on the link in the email to finish registration. Enter your name, address, cell phone and credit card information and click on Create. 
    4. ​Returning Bidders: If you have participated in a previous Oak Auction, you will already have an account. Enter the user name and password for that account. You will be asked to confirm your personal information and to enter your credit card information. Click Create and you will be ready to bid in the 2019 Oak Auction.
    5. Once your account is created or updated, you will receive a text message on your phone with a link and also an email with a link. When you click on the link, you will be able to view the packages in the Auction Catalog and start bidding on them either from your phone or from your laptop/tablet.

  • Troubleshooting Tips:
    • If you don't see any confirmation email in your regular mailbox, please check your spam mailbox and your Promotions mailbox if you're using Gmail for these 2 emails
      • Subject: Verify Email for Greater Giving from Greater Giving Login
      • Subject: Welcome to Online Bidding from Oak Avenue Elementary
    • If you don't remember your password, click on Forget? in the login window. You will receive a password reset email. 
    • If the Online Bidding Registration link does not lead you to the 2019 Fab 50s Fling Auction, don't hesitate to contact us at oakavenueauction@gmail.com.
    
    

​How to Bid in the Silent Auction:

• Select the package you wish to bid on.
  
• You can Bid the next increment or Bid More than the next increment​.​
  
• If you choose to Bid More you can choose to set your Max Bid. If your max bid is the highest, the system will automatically bid in your favor until you are outbid or until the silent auction closes. If your bid is lower than the highest max bid on that package, you will be prompted to enter a higher bid.
  
• If you’re out-bid at any point before the silent auction closes, you will receive a text message.
  
• To view packages you are bidding on, click the menu button and select Bids.
  
• Once the auction closes, the guest with the highest bid will win.
  
• Under the Bids area you can check your winning packages.
  

​Fixed-Priced Items: ​

• To purchase a ​fixed-price ​package ​like a party ticket ​at ​a ​"​Buy Now" ​price, select the Buy button.
  

​Favorites​ in a Watch List​: ​

• To "watch" a package, select the star icon on the package.
