Recess101

Three years ago, your auction donations brought Recess101 to Oak.  This program, which includes recess coaching and regular class Physical Activity Time with our Recess101 coaches, has continued to be one of our most popular programs, particularly within our parent community.

Through our partnership with Recess101, Oak receives a dedicated Recess Coordinator Monday-Friday from 9-1 all year.  This coordinator works with volunteers and staff to establish consistent responses to playground conflict, and recommends practical recommendations for resolving playground problems.

In addition to organized recess support, Recess101 brings leadership development and individualized physical education classes to Oak.

·       Organized Recess: Every recess period and lunch, Oak’s Recess Coordinator will supervise and provide structure and directions to common games, such as four square, wall-ball, etc.  S/he will also bring a rotating “game of the week”, keeping recess fun and exciting.

·       Leadership Development:  Oak’s Recess Coordinator will provide student leadership opportunities through the Recess Leader Program, giving older students an opportunity to be a positive role model for other students.

·       Physical Activity Classes: The Recess Coordinator will coordinate with teachers to hold physical activity classes that focus on age appropriate games that encourage cooperative skills and social interactions among students.
